Fucked Up Releases New Video Loop For “Year of the Hare”

Fans of Canadian hardcore and experimental punk band, Fucked Up, have been gearing up with anticipation of the new Chinese Zodiac series EP.  Year of the Hare will be released on Deathwish Inc. Records on June 16th, 2015.

The new EP features the title track ‘Year of the Hare’ that has been described as a “21-minute epic that frantically mixes traditional instrumentation, piano, synths, flutes and sax, experimental editing, soundscapes, and guest vocals from the great Isla Craig into one dizzying experience.”  The second track is the eight-minute ‘California Cold’ which also mixes musical styles and voices in an interesting concoction.

With their love for things strange and artistic, Fucked Up have decided to premier Year of the Hare in a unique way by releasing several video loops as snippets to give fans a sense of the album.  Year of the Hare – Loop Two was released on the band’s YouTube channel on May 26th.

The 13-second clip of a man checking his watch as he rides up the escalator of a shopping mall is repeated for nine minutes.  It is easy to drift off on a tangent of wonder as to who this man is and what he is doing there.  The video is strangely mesmerizing just like the contemplative loop number one.  From this video alone, it seems their new EP will be ever as brilliant and intriguing as the rest.
