On this year’s Country Music Awards, country rock band Zac Brown Band stunned with a performance of “Day for the Dead” together with the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl.
Now the band has announced the release of The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1 on December 10,2013 via iTunes – produced by Dave Grohl. The record is a first collection of songs recorded at the Southern Ground Studios in Nashville and features, in addition to the traditional Zac Brown Band lineup of Zac Brown, John Driskell Hopkins, Jimmy De Martini, Coy Bowles, Chris Fryar, Clay Cook and Daniel de los Reyes, guest performances by Oteill Burbridge on bass and Grohl on drums. It will be released on Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Artists label.
The record includes a first studio recording of “Day for the Dead”, as well as “The Muse,” a song written by The Wood Brothers, “All Alright” and “Let It Rain.”
“Dave is a musical genius,” said ZBB front-man Zac Brown. “It’s been amazing to play with him on stage and get to spend time working with him in the studio. We are excited for fans to hear the music we’ve been able to create together.”
