This week proved to be an exciting one for new releases and song premieres, as Breaking Benjamin ‘broke’ their hiatus with ‘Failure’ and Muse became ‘Dead Inside’ for their new single. Here are a few of the week’s best:
Breaking Benjamin – ‘Failure’ [Audio]
Dark Before Dawn is set to drop June 23rd, and ‘Failure’ their first single off the upcoming record is now available for instant download with pre-orders on iTunes.
Muse – ‘Dead Inside’ [Lyric Video]
‘Dead Inside’ is the latest single from Drones due June 8th, which will carry a story throughout the album; “This is where the story of the album begins,” Matt Bellamy explains, “where the protagonist loses hope and becomes ‘Dead Inside,’ therefore vulnerable to the dark forces introduced in ‘Psycho.'”
Three Days Grace – ‘Human Race’ [Lyric Video]
Human arrives next week with ‘I Am Machine,’ ‘Painkiller’ and their latest single ‘Human Race’. This album is the first to feature Matt Walst as frontman after Adam Gontier’s departure. All three singles are now available immediately with pre-orders.
Veil of Maya – ‘Mikasa’ [Music Video]
The début of ‘Mikasa’ also brought the announcement of their next LP, Matriarch dropping May 12 through Sumerian Records with an experiment of clean vocals for the record. ‘Mikasa’ marks the debut of new front-man Lukas Magyar, performing for the first time with the group.
Atreyu – ‘So Others May Live’ [Performance Video]
Atreyu returned last year from a hiatus with exclusive shows and a new single returning to their heavier roots, ‘So Others May Live,’ with their performance of it at the Observatory being used as the music video. The single will be available as an exclusive 7-inch vinyl this Record Store Day.
Fireflight – ‘We Are Alive’ [Music Video]
Alternative Press premiered Fireflight’s video for ‘We Are Alive’ as their second single off INNOVA, with the PledgeMusic funded project set for release May 5th. Congratulations to lead vocalist and new mother, Dawn Michele!
Hop Along – ‘Powerful Man’ [Audio]
Also dropping May 5th, Hop Along’s sophomore album Painted Shut has its second single ‘Powerful Man,’ building off the rawness of their first single for the record ‘Waitress.’
Run the Jewels – ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)’ [Music Video]
A powerful video about the complex social issue of police brutality was premiered for ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)’ directed by A. G. Rojas. The video features a ‘cop’ and a ‘kid’ in a seemingly endless close-contact fight against each other, with the artists and director both hoping to ‘ignite a valuable and productive conversation about racially motivated violence’ in the United States.
Impellitteri – ‘Venom’ [Music Video]
Impellitteri are set to release their tenth album with Frontiers Music Srl April 17th. Check out the album’s title track, and first premiere off the new album below:
Against The Current – ‘Paralyzed’ [Music Video]
Against The Current premiered their video for ‘Paralyzed,’ with no news yet on when their début album with Fueled By Ramen Records will be released after a successful independent release of their EP Gravity.
Hellyeah – ‘Hush’ [Lyric Video]
Hellyeah released a powerful new approach to the typical lyric video for their song ‘Hush’ addressing the subject of domestic violence. The video follows their announcement to stand in the “No More” campaign that brings focus to domestic violence. The lyrics were penned by vocalist Chad Gray about his own childhood experience.
