It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Trevor Strnad, lead vocalist of metal band The Black Dahlia Murder. Strnad was 41 years old. The cause of death has been confirmed as suicide.

His passing was confirmed by his bandmates on their social media page, with a statement that reads in part:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times, he was loved by all that met him. A walking encyclopedia of all things music. He was a hugger, a writer, and truly one of the world’s greatest entertainers. His lyrics provided the world with stories and spells and horror and whimsy. It was his life to be your show.”

The Black Dahlia Murder is a metal band from Waterford, Michigan, formed in 2001. The band has released nine studio albums to date, with seven of them charting on the Billboard 200, and is best known for their melodic death metal sound.

 The Black Dahlia Murder’s debut album Unhallowed, was released in 2003, and the band quickly gained a following within the metal scene. Their sophomore album, Miasma, was released in 2005 and peaked at #118 on the Billboard 200. From there, the band continued to achieve success, with each album propelling the band to new heights, and they soon became one of the most popular Alternative Metal bands in the world.
