With their highly anticipated seventh studio album Chapter and Verse set for release on January 19th, Funeral For A Friend have revealed the music video for new single ‘Pencil Pusher’.
The track follows first single ‘1%’ and received its world premiere on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show. Lead singer Matt Davies explains: “it’s a song about frustration, about letting the little things get to you, building gradually over time before you explode in a hail of fury and fire and blood.”
Recorded in two weeks with Lewis Johns (Gnarwolves, Goodtime Boys), ‘Chapter and Verse’ is a classic Funeral For A Friend effort in the spectacular way it melds gruff attitude with melodic choruses. It also happens to be one of the most sonically diverse and hard hitting records the band has ever made.
“It’s stripped back and live sounding. It’s not a compressed to shit metal record, it’s organic and dirty and you can feel the sweat, blood and emotion in it. It’s sonically, our most intense record and it might take people a few listens to ‘get it’ compared to the rock bombast of say ‘Tales’ or even ‘Casually Dressed’. It’s probably got more in common with ‘Between Order and Model’ on a sonic level.”, Matt explained in an exclusive interview with Altwire last November.
