NWA, NIN Among 2016 R&R Hall of Fame Nominees

Incase you’re feeling rather youthful today, here’s your daily dose of “I feel old” to shoot you down, and remind you that you too are indeed soon to be old and decrepit. Today, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced the nominees for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and among them are Nine Inch Nails and NWA. You know, the artists you loved listening to in the late 80s, early 90s, only to be reminded today that that time period took place almost 30 years ago, meaning that yours truly was 2 years old when Straight Outta Compton was released, and 3 years old with Pretty Hate Machine respectively. Both of these artists with their catchy three letter abbreviations, are joined by fellow greats The Cars, The Smiths, Yes, Deep Purple, and Cheap Trick among many others. For a full list of who is nominated and up for voting for these honors, check out the official site aquí.

Of course, much like a controversial early 2000s Presidential Election, don’t expect your votes to count for too much. Despite Nine Inch Nails being up for voting last year, and coming in with a very strong 2nd place finish in the public voting, Trent Reznor was denied a spot in the Hall of Fame, opening up the door for him to be eligible for voting once again this year. This is due to the winning public votes, only counting towards ‘one’ vote out of potentially more than 600 ballots cast by a body of historians, artists and members, who ultimately decide who gets in and who stays out. But hey, power to the people right?

The 2016 RORHOF ceremony will take place this April in New York.

Till then, here’s some classic NWA. You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge.
