Metalheads, take note! Do you miss the days of 80s rock and roll? If that’s the case, Eva Under Fire has a new song out, and it’s a cover of Journey’s 80s rock classic “Separate Ways”! The Detroit rockers have reinvented the classic song with their own hard-rock spin, and it will undoubtedly be a hit with fans of the original.
For those unfamiliar with Eva Under Fire, the band was formed in 2015 and consists of Amanda Lyberg (who goes by Eva Marie), Rob Lyberg (Guitar), Corey Newsom (Drums), Chris Slapnik (Guitar and vocals), and Ed Gawlik III (Bass and vocals). Spiced up with a harder sound, and an updated rock sound, this cover brings a new intensity and energy to the song that completely changes the original feel. Eva’s powerful vocals will no doubt have you hooked from the first listen.
“Separate Ways” was first released as a power ballad by the American rock band Journey, and was released as a single from their album Frontiers (1983). It was written by Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain. The song was a chart success, reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also reached number one on the Top Tracks chart.
You can catch this cover on Eva Under Fire’s new EP Blow, along with two original songs featuring guest appearances by Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills and Jonathan Dorr of Ego Kill Talent.
