Kevin Gates Premieres Meaningful New “Walls Talking”

Kevin Gates

Today, Kevin Gates released a meaningful new visual to accompany his standout track “Walls Talking” from his sophomore album I’M HIM. The multi-platinum rapper – who has always shared his struggle with mental health through his raw and emotional lyrics – has teamed up with suicide prevention organization SAVE.ORG.

In the new video for “Walls Talking,” Gates gives viewers a glimpse into his mind and encourages those with similar issues to reach out for help. The video is streaming now on Kevin Gates’ official YouTube channel HERE.

“Our mission is to prevent suicide,” says Dr. Dan Reidenberg, Executive Director of Save.org. “Breaking down the stigma of mental health helps saves lives and with Kevin’s new song and video his is doing just that.”

“Music has always been therapy for me,” says Kevin Gates. “Anyone who is struggling out there should know they aren’t alone. I got you.”

“Walls Talking” is one of the most personal and powerful tracks on from Kevin Gates’ new album I’M HIM, which was released on September 27 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album Sales chart. On the overall Billboard 200 chart, Gates picked up his fourth top 10 album, landing at #4 with over 75,000 equivalent album units earned. I’M HIM also debuted in the #1 spot on the Digital Albums chart and as the #1 album in federal penitentiaries. I’M HIM is the 17-track follow-up to Gates’ debut album ISLAH which has been certified 2x Platinum since its 2016 release.

Kevin Gates – who launched his new album while in the best shape of his life mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually – is currently on his massive North American headline tour celebrating I’M HIM; watch the I’M HIM Tour trailer HERE. Long hailed as an electrifying live performer, Gates kicked off the trek this past Saturday in Chicago and will continue through November 30th in Seattle. I’M HIM was immediately met with critical acclaim upon release with Pitchfork stating, “seventeen songs with no guest features should be a recipe for exhaustion, yet there’s hardly a trace of fat on I’m Him. The draw remains, as always, hearing one of rap’s most well-rounded personalities be his unabashed self, whether that means being a hardhead, a hornball, an unguarded romantic, or all of the above.” Last week Gates sat down with the ITSTHEREAL podcast for an extremely meaningful conversation covering so many facets of his life; listen HERE.
