Nuevo álbum de Foo Fighters este otoño, grabación documentada en nueva serie de HBO

Dave Grohl, charismatic frontrunner of the Foo Fighters has announced that the band’s highly anticipated eighth studio album will be released this upcoming fall. In an earlier statement, the band had told us that their new album was going to be recorded “in a way no one has ever done before”.  And boy isn’t that the truth.  As it turns out, the still untitled album has been recorded in a total of eight different studios in eight different cities throughout the United States.  One song was recorded per studio and, in a delightful cultural twist, each track will feature a “local legend” as a guest artist.

That alone would have been enough to make all fans of rock music interested, but it’s not enough for the Foos! Along with the album announcement it was also revealed that HBO will air an eight part documentary series of the albums recording as directed by Dave Grohl.  Sounds like these guys have a thing for the power of eight! The series will be similar to Grohl’s Sound City documentary and will feature interviews with local musicians while exploring the music scene and delving into “how the region shaped the musicians in their formative years” alongside behind the scenes footage of the studio process for the new album.  The show is scheduled to air on HBO this winter, with the first episode premiering on the eve of the band’s 20th anniversary.

The new album will be the follow-up to the Foo Fighters’ 2011’s success Desperdiciar la luz which won the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.  More information is said to be revealed in the following weeks.
