Foo Fighters Prepared To Launch Campaign For Sonic Highways

Legendary rock group Foo Fighters are about to launch their campaign promoting the band’s upcoming eighth studio album, Sonic Highways. The new album, described by lead singer / guitarist Dave Grohl as “a love letter to the history of American music“, will be accompanied by a documentary series, also entitled Sonic Highways, to be aired by HBO in the lead-up to its release. The album will additionally be preceded by “Something From Nothing”, the lead single promoting the album, which will be released to radio and digital retailers on Thursday, October 16, at 10am Central Time.

Sonic Highways, recorded over the course of eleven months from September 2013 to July 2014 in eight different cities across the United States, sees the band continue their ambitious efforts after having recorded the last album, the Grammy award-winning Wasting Light, at Grohl’s home in California, with analogue recording technology. Aiming to capture eight of America’s well-known cities on each of the album’s eight tracks, the album saw the band take a journey across the country to compile a tribute to American music and its culture, while recording all the tracks with “local legends” from each city, appearing as guest musicians.

In addition to the brand new single and TV series, the Foo Fighters are also slated to play on CBS late night talk show, The Late Show with David Letterman, for five nights starting on October 13, where they will play songs by artists which inspired the creation of Sonic Highways.

The album Sonic Highways is due to be released by RCA worldwide on November 10. You can watch a brand new extended trailer for the upcoming Sonic Highways TV series on HBO below:
