Slipknot Surprises Fans With “The Negative One”

After much teasing on their social media networks over the last few weeks, the Iowa metal giants Slipknot have today revealed their first new music since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. The new track is called “The Negative One” and is available for streaming on the band’s official website, right HERE. The track is taken off of Slipknot’s upcoming fifth studio record, and while no more details about the new album have been revealed as of yet, it is likely that the band will be revealing more in the following days and weeks.

The new, yet untitled album will be Slipknot’s first without late bassist Paul Gray who died of an overdose in 2010, and also the first without drummer Joey Jordison who left the band in December last year.

Singer Corey Taylor has in interviews earlier this year described the new album as a mix between Iowa and Vol. 3, which has gotten many fans very excited, as always when metal bands promise a return to their older sound! And with “The Negative One”, it seems as if Taylor is prepared to back up those statements. With eerie screeching sounds, heavy guitar riffs, blasting drumbeats and the absence of clean vocals the song almost feels like it could have been on their first self titled record. Is this the big return of the Knot? Give “The Negative One” a listen and decide for yourself!
