Rise Against has released a new interactive music video for their current single, “Talking To Ourselves.”
The video is full of encrypted transmissions that fans can discover by scanning special QR codes throughout the video. In an intriguing twist, the band will update the video with evolving messages over the next few weeks. Because of this, Rise Against has urged fans to rewatch the video over the next month, as the QR codes and messages will change with time.
In talking about the video, the director said the following: “The intention behind the video was to yet again shed light on us as a society and to expand on the feeling that we have progressively lost our humanity. In our video, the QR codes represent little windows to the world outside of our bubbles, only to be dismissed and swiped onto the next event,” explains director Ryan Valdez. “It feels so bleak. Heartbreaking headlines are so disposable and just another hashtag buried in the news of celebrity gossip and trending dances. As we watch and Tim sings, ‘Are we talking to ourselves,’ I hope it reminds us to be human, listen, speak up and do better.”
The release of Talking To Ourselves follows the February release of “Talking To Ourselves (IDLES Inner Monologue Remix),” which was reworked by British Rock band IDLES. Rise Against isis presently on tour through April 22nd, performing at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto tonight (04/06/22), and returning on tour later this summer for a headline run in the United States. Their upcoming US dates will include a show at The Forum in Los Angeles (7/19) and The Rooftop at Pier 17 in NYC (8/09), with support from The Used and Senses Fail. See below for a current itinerary; tickets are on sale now.
Rise Against’s latest Nowhere Generation (Loma Vista Recordings) has been a very successful release for the group debuting at the top of multiple Billboard charts with its first week of sales (#1 on Rock, #3 on Top Current Albums, #3 on Vinyl, and the Top 40 of the Top 200). Additionally, the title track earned various spots on Billboard’s Year-End Charts for radio airplay, including #4 at Mainstream Rock Songs and #5 at Rock Airplay Songs, as well as iHeartRadio’s #10 most played Alternative song in 2021, while the band was Billboard’s #9 most-played artist on rock radio in 2021.
